Prayers by the riverside

By Collins Shahonya

It was a holy week in Isinya district, Enkirgirri area where faithful from all churches thronged the riverside of river Enkirgirri that consumed the lives of 14 people late last year; praying for divine intervention from the Almighty God.

It was an extraordinary spectacle as the prayers ran for three days in a raw starting from the 28th of March 2014, which was a Friday culminating to a prayer service at the same venue on Sunday 30th March 2014.

More than 1000 people came all the way from Loitokitok in solidarity to drive away dark forces that have been killing people crossing the river, not once, not twice!

Reverends and pastors from all the churches in Isinya District came together with their faithfuls to demystify the dark world as it is perceived that Isinya area has been taken aback with people associating themselves with devil worshipping.

Everyone took the chance to curse those associating themselves with the evil world. And as part of a thanksgiving for what God had done for them, everyone gave offerings which included animals, goats and money to aid the families that were bereaved.

Food was available in plenty and everyone dined, drank and wined after three days of fasting. Legislators from Isinya District graced the occasion that included Member of County Assembly David Nkirimpai, former counselor Joshua Olowuasa, the Chairman Peace committee and Isinya District community policy Jeremiah Ateti and chiefs from all the locations.

The County government pledged a sum of Kshs. 5 Million to build a bridge at the site hence keeping at bay such accidents of people drowning in the near future.
